Dr. Tiffany Ruffin, PsyD
Licensed Psychologist

Dr. Ruffin is a licensed psychologist (in MO & KS) with a Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. She completed her post-doctoral training with a focus on psycho-educational evaluations including ADHD assessments. She has worked in private practice, hospital based settings, outpatient women’s health clinics, and as an adjunct professor at local universities. She has been a guest contributor to a number of media outlets including the Kansas City Beacon, Fox 4 News, and KSHB.

Her goal is to help clients increase self-acceptance and find their true inner worth. She is passionate about guiding clients in their personal growth, allowing them to feel empowered and creating sustainable plans to get where they want to be.

Dr. Ruffin was first drawn to Solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) during her post-doctoral experience. She felt frustrated with the typical focal points (focused on the negative) of many common therapy modalities. She realized clients were likely leaving sessions feeling similar discouragement.

It was during this postdoc experience that she began exploring SFBT as a treatment approach and the lightbulb turned on! This approach not only fit with who she was as a person but also allowed clients to leave therapy feeling hopeful and empowered instead of stuck repeating their issues over and over without benefit of change.

Dr. Ruffin recognizes the importance of efficient, effective services to people who don’t have an abundance of time or energy. She utilizes a strengths-based framework in all of her clinical work to clarify next steps, specify goals, and establish an action plan customized to each client. This approach is applicable to individual therapy, couples therapy, and even assessments. Most recently she has found the impact this modality can have on new parents.

Often, people seek therapy when they feel stuck, unsure, burnt out, and directionless. Having a professional help clarify the who, what, when, where, and how can be the jumpstart they need to get back on track.
